Alcan - Sapa 2008 - When there was fire in the furnace and power in the press.
Rosy Burke, the photographer, had a rare opportunity to photograph the Alcan-Sapa factory in Banbury, Oxfordshire. Her slideshow shows the site before it was closed and demolished in 2009. The site, the people, the buildings and surroundings tell the story of the aluminium casting and extrusion processes which were still in place at the time. After you have watched this, do watch the movie footage that was taken at the time https://youtu.be/20xcXQyrBw0. Thank you to the extraordinary people that worked there who helped her in the taking of the photos.

BBC Countryfile Photo Competition 2014 - Long List Judging at Sheepdrove Farm, Berkshire, UK
BBC Countryfile Photo Competition - Long List Judging July 2014. This was the day that eight of us previous winners gathered to pore over 32,000 photos entered under the title 'Animal Magic'. Our task was to select 3,000 for the celebrity judges, John Craven, Bill Bailey and Charlotte Uhlenbroek, who would choose the final 12 for the BBC Countryfile Calendar 2015. In 2014 it raised £1.4m for BBC Children in Need. This is the story of our judging day at Sheepdrove Farm Conference Centre and how the filming takes place. Wool House 13-24 March 2013, London
In the world's largest showcase of wool, the recently renovated West Wing of Somerset House was transformed into a home made primarily from wool. Seven individual rooms, from the bedroom to the study, created by leading designers, such as Kit Kemp and Donna Wilson, will be exhibited to show how the design community uses wool extensively in their work. Three additional rooms will be dedicated to fashion displays, celebrating the importance of the fibre in today's fashion industry. Presented by The Campaign for Wool, an artisan in residence will also work on location throughout the period demonstrating the heritage of industry skills to the public.

BBC Countryfile Photo Competition 2012, Long Listing v.6.mov
Rosy's trip to Birmingham to help BBC Countryfile with their Photography Competition 2012. Filming was at the great MAC Arts Centre. There were about 49,000 entries and 8 long listing judges. It takes a long day to do but the satisfaction of narrowing down the entries to 3,500 for Judges John Craven, Chris Packham and Jo Brand is good. The Calendar raised approx £1.19m for BBC Children in Need last year. It will be on sale in the run up to Christmas as usual from the BBC Countryfile website.
